Landsmere is a deprived area of Bradfield. The estate has a high crime rate and it’s knows for vandalism and anti-social behavior. Countless attempts have been made to to improve the image of the estate, but unfortunately they have been unsuccessful. Landsmere Community Association and the Bradfield Community Chest are working together to renovate the estate and make it a safe place for residents.
A new playground will be build, which will provide a play equipment, a skateboarding and a scooter area, a sandpit and a covered shelter for parents who are supervising their children.
Peter Smithson, chair of Landsmere Community Association said that the work has already started and the project will take approximately two months. The cost of the project is £50,000, from which the Bradfield council has contributed £10,000 and the BCC has contributed £15,000 and the rest has been raised by the Community Association.
